Man swinging golf Club

As someone who gets out on the course a few times each summer, I can tell you firsthand that golfing in and around McCall, Idaho is something special. Even if you're not a weekly player, the setting alone is enough to make you want to grab your clubs and head for the first tee. Pine trees, fresh mountain air, cool summer mornings, and some of the most scenic fairways in the state—this is what mountain golf is all about.

At Greaves Real Estate Group, I work with a lot of buyers who are looking for more than just a house. They want access to the lifestyle that makes McCall such a great place to live, vacation, or invest in. For many of them, golf is part of that picture. Whether it’s playing every weekend or just a few relaxing rounds a season, having great golf nearby is a big draw.

If that sounds like you, here’s a local’s guide to some of my favorite courses in the McCall area and what makes each one unique.

McCall Golf Club – McCall, Idaho

This is the go-to course right in the heart of McCall. It’s public, well-kept, and has 27 holes to keep things interesting. I really enjoy how walkable it is and how easy it is to fit in a round, even on a busy summer weekend. If you're just easing into the season or entertaining guests from out of town, this is a great place to play.

Morning tee times are a favorite here. The light coming through the trees and the calm of early hours set the tone for the day. It’s peaceful, friendly, and never feels rushed.

Jug Mountain Ranch – South of McCall

Jug Mountain is a favorite when I’m looking for a bit more of a challenge and want to spend time surrounded by incredible views. This semi-private course winds through forest, creeks, and open meadows. The layout has some fun elevation changes that make it a great option for both intermediate players and confident weekend golfers.

Even if I’m not playing my best, the setting always makes it worth the drive. The clubhouse patio is a great place to unwind afterward, especially with something cold in hand and Jughandle Mountain in the background.

Osprey Meadows Golf Course at Tamarack Resort – Donnelly, Idaho

Tamarack’s newly reopened 18-hole course, Osprey Meadows, has quickly become one of the area’s top golf destinations. The full course is now open, including the 19th “Gambler’s Hole,” which adds a fun twist to the round. The design is gorgeous, with wide fairways and sweeping lake and mountain views.

You’ll find the Pro Shop on the lower level of the Lodge at Osprey Meadows. Club rentals are available too, which makes it easy for visitors or second-home owners who don’t want to haul gear around.

This course is absolutely worth the visit. Whether you're serious about your game or just want to experience one of Idaho's most beautiful resort layouts, it delivers.

MeadowCreek Golf Resort – New Meadows, Idaho

If you’re up for a scenic drive, just 12 miles northwest of McCall, Meadow Creek in New Meadows is a hidden gem. This 18-hole course is quieter than some of the others and has a relaxed, welcoming vibe. It’s a great course for a peaceful round with friends, and the wide fairways make it accessible for all levels.

What I like most about MeadowCreek is the slower pace and the sense that you’ve stepped away from the buzz of summer tourism. It's a great place to play when you just want some space and quiet.

Why Golfers Are Buying Homes in McCall

Golf is just one part of what draws people to McCall, but it’s an important one. Buyers are finding that they don’t have to give up mountain views or lake access to stay close to the game. You can have both.

Our summer weather is ideal for golf, with temperatures that hover in the 70s and low 80s. You won’t find the sweltering heat that comes with golf in other parts of the country. And with a variety of course styles and settings, you’re never bored.

Some of my clients are looking for homes near the fairway, while others just want to know they can get a tee time without a long wait or big membership dues. McCall and the surrounding towns deliver on all of that. From lakefront cabins to low-maintenance golf course homes, there’s a good range of options.
